I know I’ve been MIA for quite some time, but…
Lucy got sick back in September I believe it was…. Diagnosis: heart failure. With the exception of a trip to Florida for Thanksgiving, she soaked up all of my time and energy until February when we decided it was time to let her go. I asked her doctors, who had given up on her back in September to give her anything they could to help her. They did and this gave her 3 good days, where she ate and strutted around yelling at me just like she used to. Then the meds stopped working and we decided it was time to let her go.
February 7th 2020 we said goodbye to our beloved Lucyfur.
December 2019, my husband had his retirement ceremony. (It was awesome btw, maybe someday I’ll post the video, anyway) That’s right! He’s retired, and as of April 1st 2020 it’s official. My husband, after 24 years, is officially retired from the US Army. It still doesn’t feel real, ya know? I mean it’s a scary new reality, especially right now, no longer having the security net of being military with a guaranteed pay check… But for him, I’m happy. He was tired… has been for quite some time. His last duty station was a particularly stressful one for him, so I am definitely happy that he is free to start the next chapter of his life.
Now we’re all pretty much trapped in our perspective dwellings dealing with Coronavirus. I haven’t been in a public place since the day of my last set of allergy shots, so March 11th. I’m an introvert and didn’t mind too much in the beginning being told to stay home, because lets face it, the added anxiety surrounding the whole situation was becoming a bit much. However, now it’s May, and my birthday is in about a week and I really need an outing… a night in a hotel with an oceanfront view so I can capture the most beautiful sunrise with my camera…. damn that sounds nice. I think of all the things I miss, the beach is the biggest of these things. That being said, even after the stay at home order expires, I won’t be rushing off anywhere. Something tells me there will be another wave as restrictions are lifted and I don’t want to risk my family or myself.
Can we consider 2020 a fail yet? I think we should delete the remainder of the 2020 calendar and celebrate New Years 2021 already lol. Can’t be worse… can it?
I am not going to promise that I am going to post regularly, because fact of the matter is, I am easily distracted these days and even though what I should be doing is taking the time to post the plethora of unedited shots I have from the last few years, the likelihood of me doing so is slim.
I hope everyone is staying at home or at least staying safe.
