I went in for my last check up before my scheduled c-section.  See you were breach and they were afraid to let you come on your April Fool’s Day due date.  I wasn’t exactly thrilled with your due date, afraid you’d be teased.  You had your own plan though didn’t you?

The doctor thought you were tangled in your cord because you heart rate kept slowing down.  They rushed me to the hospital for an emergency c-section.  When you weren’t active and sleeping your heart rate was normal when you were awake and active, your heart rate would slow down.  They weren’t sure why but knew they had to get you out soon.

They rushed me to the operating room, where you were delivered on this day at 3:26 in the afternoon.  Though your father wasn’t allowed in the room, he was the first one to see you.  They let him carry you to the nursery where you stayed until I awoke and asked for you more than 2 hours later.  Turns out, you weren’t tangled in your cord at all, you were holding it,  squeezing it.  You’ve been pushing boundaries (usually mines) all your life.

On this day, I wish you all the happiness in the world.  You are 18 years old.  Damn how time flies.  I still remember your little baby face as I held you in my arms for the first time.  How have you managed to grow in to a man right before my eyes?  You know who you are, you aren’t afraid to speak your mind, and I am more proud of you with every passing day.  You’ll always be my baby and I’ll love you forever.

Happy Birthday Andre!
