Sprechen Sie Deutsch

If you could wake up tomorrow and be fluent in any language you don’t currently speak, which would it be? Why? What’s the first thing you do with your new linguistic skills?

If I could wake up tomorrow and be fluent in any language which would it be?  German.  Yeah I know, weird but true!

I know German when I hear it.  It is such a harsh sounding language to my ear, but honestly every time I hear it I am wondering what the people conversing are saying.  I’d love to speak German.  I’d love to be able to go to Germany one day and actually be able to speak the language.  Not go speaking English and just expect them to know what I am talking about.  So yeah, if I could wake up tomorrow fluent in another language… I’d definitely chose German.

  1. I’m German , it’s so interesting to hear what other people think of this language! I’d hate to have to learn it though. I would go for Arabic. The culture is so foreign to me which is sad. I believe knowing the language would make a huge difference!

    1. I have some kind of aversion to languages that don’t use the alphabet (Chinese, Japanese, Arabic) I need something that I can relate to I guess. Totally unrelated, I had a Russian pen pal when I was in high school that tried to teach his language to me. That was interesting lol.
