Tell Me a Story

What person whom you don’t know very well in real life — it could be a blogger whose writing you enjoy, a friend you just recently made, etc. — would you like to have over for a long chat in which they tell you their life story?

My response to today’s writing prompt is an odd one.  As I’m sure you know, I am not a religious woman.  However, if I had to sit down with a person I don’t know (at all) for a long chat, I’d choose Joel Osteen.

Yes I know, weird choice for me.  But I like him.  I listen to him sometimes on the radio when I am in the car.  He’s a great storyteller.  I would totally love to sit down with him for a long chat and listen to him tell me his life story.

Now don’t get it twisted, I wouldn’t be willing to go sit in his church and listen to his sermon.  I am not a fan of organized religion.  I am especially not a firm believer in the Christian religion.  But I do like to listen to the stories that he weaves into his sermons.  He paints a picture with his words.  In these words I can find both humor and sadness.  So, to me, that would be a great way to spend an afternoon.
