What’s your idea of a perfect day off: one during which you can quietly relax, doing nothing, or one with one fun activity lined up after the other? Tell us how you’d spend your time.
A perfect day off for me is usually spent lounging around the house. However, when I have more than one strung together I tend to find something interesting to do. While back in Colorado these interesting things usually lead to hikes. Hikes which I miss (so does my waistline). I’d go to places like Bluestem Prairie.
Or Garden of the Gods.
Here in Maryland I haven’t found that one place that calls to me. I do like Brookside Gardens and it isn’t that far away, however the toll road pretty much keeps me from going there on a regular basis. Otherwise I’d be out there a couple of times a week just to clear my mind.

There are lots of parks and hiking trails in my area. However without something worth looking at I find I get caught up in my thoughts and that makes the trip a waste. I can sit at home and obsess about school and life. I do find getting out and hiking to be quite relaxing, however, lately I spend more time relaxing in front of the DVR than I do outside behind the camera.
We’re lucky enough to live right near a really nice (short, but sweet) hike under the redwoods. We don’t even have to drive to get there. When we were homeschooling, I went with the boys two or three times a week. Now they are in public school, and I’m working, I can hardly find the time. I miss it. I’m looking forward to lots of long walks with them this winter when they have two weeks off for the holidays. 😀

We don’t really have anywhere like that here in walking distance (that I’m aware of). We do have a lot of sidewalks that weave through this little community that’s about it. Your redwoods sound awesome.
