The Girl Who Fell Flat

When was the last time a movie, a book, or a television show left you cold despite all your friends (and/or all the critics) raving about it? What was it that made you go against the critical consensus?

I heard a lot about the Millennium series, or the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.  So, I bought The Girl Who Played with Fire.  Screen Shot 2014-08-13 at 8.42.25 PM

It wasn’t bad.  It wasn’t all that good either.  The problem with books translated from another language is there are a lot of words that there are no translation for.  Also, basic things like places, street names, etc can not be translated.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t know any Swedish.

I watched the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  That was the movie right?  It was good.  However, parts of that movie actually came from The Girl Who Played with Fire.  I was sitting there watching the movie, slowly losing my mind like wait…. that was in the book I read (half of).

Don’t you hate it when they screw up a movie from a book?  I mean how hard is it to get it right?  It was already written, your only job at that point was to turn the written word and turn it into screenplay.  How hard is that?  Anyway…

I tried to like this book.  It was interesting, just not good.  I couldn’t really get into it.  Now I am sitting here wondering what they are going to do with the next movie since they have already Frankensteined the first one.

I also heard that Shades of Grey was good… sorry though guys, I’m not into “romance” novels.  I didn’t even attempt to read it.  Especially considering how into my sister was LOL.  What is a book or movie that you heard about that turned out to be a dud?
