We all have songs that remind us of specific periods and events in our lives. Twenty years from now, which song will remind you of the summer of 2014?
Remember that song? It’s still awesome. Even after all these years. When you hear that song it makes you think of cookouts, family, and fireworks. I remember every saturday morning when we were teenagers meeting up at the car wash. Washing cars, music blaring, hanging out… it was summer! I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything. They just don’t make songs like that anymore. It was more anthem than song, but it was still awesome.
I tend to gravitate towards music that speaks to me. Something about that song, cd, etc has to grab my attention to hold it. (I have a short attention span lol) Lately I have been listening to more Rap than Rock or Alternative, which is an oddity for me. However, this summer, I haven’t really been listening to music. Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole Radio on Sirius has been our go to station in the car. If you don’t know anything about his station, it is mostly comedy with a little music thrown in. When the music comes on I tend to change the station. Mostly because it’s usually Jamie Foxx’s music which I don’t really like R&B.
There is one song that the station has played so much that I know it by heart and I HATE it!!! I loath this song. It’s Usher’s Good Kisser. 20 years from now when I think about the summer of 2014, that will be the song that reminds me most of it. Obviously not because I like it, but because I have heard it probably a hundred times in the last month. Almost every station on my presets plays that song. It’s like it is on a friggin loop. I get it! It’s Usher. But even Ushers music should have a cap on how many times you have to hear it.
