You’re at the beach with some friends and/or family, enjoying the sun, nibbling on some watermelon. All of a sudden, within seconds, the weather shifts and hail starts descending from the sky. Write a post about what happens next.
Having lived in Colorado for 6 years I am no stranger to shifting weather. Our first year there, we had some of the strangest weather. One minute it would be sunny and warm, the next it would be chilly and you’d be looking for a sweater. It was definitely one of those places where it was possible to get 4 seasons in a day.
The difference between rain and hail is, rain will get you wet, but you’re at the beach so you are probably already wet. Hail on the other hand comes in various sizes and is being hurled at you, usually by high winds, and has the potential to hurt a lot when it hits you.
Hail never travels alone, it either comes by way of cloudy skies and rain, or cloudy skies and wind. I’d imagine if I were at the beach and it began to get cloudy and windy I would start gathering my belongings to leave. What is the fun in being at the beach getting sand blown in your eyes? However, if just out of the blue it began to hail I’d gather what i could and run for it.
“RUN FOREST! RUN!”
If you were being pelted by little balls of ice (or maybe not so little balls of ice) wouldn’t you?
