Day 19 – The Paint Mines

Okay.. so, for those you who want more information about The Paint Mines, click to be taken to the El Paso County Parks page.  I think the coolest thing I learned about the Paint Mines was the fact that, there is evidence of human life existing out there as far back as 9,000 years ago.  Apparently the Native Americans even used the colorful clay for making pottery and ceremonial paints.  Cool right?  okay, you didn’t come here for a history lesson, you came for pictures… so I’ll get on with it.  Every photo featured here today was taken at The Paint Mines.

As the week progresses these photos will get more interesting.  You know what that means right?  You have to come back 🙂

I’m not sure what this is, it looked so delicate out there amongst the rocks.

Last one!I climbed on top of some rocks and how pretty the view was from up there… The further we get the prettier the colors of the rocks will be.  Okay, that’s it for now, see you back here tomorrow.  BFN!

  1. I don’t know how you could possibly pick a favorite photo, they’re all so beautiful. Keep going with the history lesson, I’ve never heard of this place before you mentioned it. I think it’s pretty darn cool. If I ever get out near you I want to check this place out, it’s really beautiful!

    1. I read about it by accident. They put this little insert in the Newspaper last week. Normally I just recycle them, but I flipped through this one. It had a lot of good information in it. I almost missed the little 3 line blurb about the Paint Mines. I guess there really isn’t much information about it, because the paper didn’t say much about it. I just happened to run across someones blog that had been there… I, personally, think my pictures are better, but theirs are the reason I went out there in the first place. I have much better photos to come. These are just the tip of the iceberg. I took 101 photos altogether so I should have more than enough to last the week.
