My Wonderful Morning Surprise

Thursday of last week was EXCRUCIATINGLY hot. Trying to think about the kittens I took them out of their kennel and put them in my yard cart. I put cedar shavings in the bottom and put the kittens in there. Knowing that it was too deep for the kittens to climb out of. I wasn’t counting on Lucy moving them…. she did. That was a week ago today. I had a aching feeling she moved the babies to the neighbor’s yard where I couldn’t go retrieve them so I figured they’d come back for food when they got old enough. I was wrong. I opened my door this morning at 7:30 on my way out to take Andre to school and was greeted no only by Miss Lucy… she brought the kiddles back. There they were, all 5 little kitties standing on my doorstep. I put out a can of wet food in case they were ready for it. I put out Lucy’s mix of wet & dry and I put out a new container of water. I left to take Andre to school. When I walked back up to the house shortly before eight they scattered like roaches, but I left the door open in case they wandered back up. After about a half hour or so a couple of them came back up while the other 2 were slept on Zoie’s babies Memorial curled around each other. I couldn’t get a picture of it without going outside and I didn’t want to freak out the baby that was eating so If I get a picture of all of them later I’ll post it. Yeh! I got the babies back… now the problem reappears.. what am I going to do with them all? I had pretty much decided I was keeping Lucy, I’ll take her to the vet and have her fixed and get all her shots done and she can stay a yard cat since that is all she’s ever been. I still want blonde or Dessie as I’ve been calling him… we’ll see.

Last night I finished reading my book Stalemate by Iris Johansen. It took a while. I’ve been reading this book off and on for the last week. The first couple chapters were dryer than 2 day old toast. So I would only read about a few pages at a time in the beginning and I’d put it down and walk away. But Tuesday I FINALLY got to the good part of the book. It’s about this woman named Eve that was a Forensic Reconstructionist… so to speak. Her job was to give sculls found, a face. Apparently she was very good at it. So good in fact that a Columbian Weapons Dealer named Montalvo wanted to hire her to do a job for him. She refused at first but soon he gave her an offer she couldn’t refuse. With the help of her CIA friends she snuck away from her ex Navy Seal boyfriend and went to Columbia to reconstruct a scull that Montalvo wanted to use to turn the Rebel Army Commander against their Drug Lord benefactor. She soon discovered she was in way over her head. I won’t tell you any more, except that this book turned out to be very good. Could have started better as I started not to read it at all, but I’m glad I did. I finished it about 1 this morning. If you like Thrillers this one might be worth the pick up. It’s not quite like the typical thriller I’d read but it still turned out to be pretty good.
